Clip 2: The Citizen Genre: Action - fight scene Film: The Citizen Episode I More action! In this scene from The Citizen, the protagonist has rescued the hostage and is trying to exit the building while the antagonist is running to catch up. At the start of the scene things are not moving much visually. The music provides the much needed propulsion and intensity. It's like in Jurassic Park, the T-Rex attack is not scored since the images are intense enough on their own. But the dialogue scenes in the control room all have underscore that maintains the feeling of tension. However, as you see in this clip, I scored the fight scene! And I had a great time, too. What I like the most about this cue: The subtle way how the music follows the cuts and action in the middle of the cue, while they are all walking in the hallway. And wow this music builds to the fight scene while not avoiding the element of surprise. The fight scene music I am very proud of still. It is very harsh, chromatic, bone-crunching, visceral, powerful music. Guttural yet with a distinct melodic line. There are many awesome hits in the fight scene as well worth watching out for. PS: Like the clip above, this one has time code and no special effects. |
